Emergency Order 21-20 - Park Re-Opening on April 29th

Dear Members & Residents,

We wish to thank member and residents for their patience and understanding during the park closure which was instituted as part of Emergency Order 06-20.  On April 27th, Miami Dade County Mayor, Carlos Giménez issued Emergency Order 21-20 which allows us to re-open Park West. On April 29th at 6 AM Park West will re-open with restrictions which will be limited to walking, jogging and cycling as before however individuals must observe social distancing at all times. Facial coverings must be worn at all times except for children under two, those with chronic preexisting condition or any person engaged in strenuous activity. The park sidewalk will be one-way flow only and persons on the sidewalk may only travel in the designated direction marked on the sidewalk. Individuals at the park may not obstruct sidewalks in any way. Groups of ten or more individuals are also not permitted to congregate anywhere on the property at any time. The Association, at its discretion, may have security present to enforce these rules. Anyone found at the park not adhering to these rules or in violation of Emergency Order 21-20 will be asked to leave.  Residents choosing to ignore the order could face Association fines, an enforcement action by Miami Dade Police or both.  Non-Community residents choosing to ignore the order will be expelled from the community and may receive a no trespass order that would extend into the future. We appreciate everyone's cooperation and understanding during this time.

Car Rim Theft: Villas West 4/26/2020

With everyone's concerns focused around their health and wellbeing during the current stay at home order, the last thing on our minds is crime. A homeowner on 110th LN woke up this morning morning to find their car, a red Infinity, on blocks with its tires/rims stolen. The owner had their car parked in their own driveway and did not hear anything at the time. Anyone having any information regarding this theft is asked to contact Miami Dade County Police. Anyone around 109th LN , 110th LN, 122nd PL or 122nd CT with cameras having footage that can be considered useful are urged to contact police and the Association. We have contacted Police and asked for a watch placed for our community.

The last car rim theft occurred in our community on 3/15/2019.  This is concerning to the Board as this is the third such incident in the community within the last four years.  The Board of Directors has been discussing the possibility of installing cameras at all entrances and other key positions within the community to help deter this and other such crimes.  This topic will be discussed again at the next scheduled Board meeting.

It is important to note that this continues to be a problem all around Miami Dade County and has been brought up several times in the quarterly Crime Watch meetings held in the community. The type of car and rims stolen don't really follow a pattern and all cars seem to be targets. It doesn't seem to matter if the rims are custom or if they are regular rims that come with your standard model car. Residents which have alloy wheels/rims should invest in one or two sets of wheel locks to secure their rims and ensure that the key used for those locks is not hidden in an obvious place where thieves will easily find it, such as in your glove box or trunk. Car owners should also look into VIN etching kits or services as thieves tend to stay away from parts that have had their vehicle identification number (VIN) etched onto the rims, doors, windows, windshield, etc...To make it more difficult for thieves to steal your tires, make sure your front wheels are turned all the way left or right.

It goes without saying that if suspicious activity is occurring on or around the property, residents are urged to please contact Police immediately by calling their non-emergency number at (305) 4-POLICE (476-5423). No incident large or small should ever go without being reported. If you believe that a crime is in progress, please call 911. Do not attempt make contact with any person engaging in suspicious activity and instead let Police handle the situation. Always Contact Us afterwards to let us know so we can followup with Police.
